Cowboy came to us August 31, 2007.  He is very thin and malnourished.  Being a senior horse at the age of twenty
something?? we can only hope that with the proper nourishment he will be able to thrive once again.  Cowboy is a great
prospect for working with the children.  He is a retired trail horse from Fairfield Glade Stables (they were not the prior
owner who surrendered him).  He spent a good 15 years as a loyal trail horse for the novice rider and nothing phases
him!  He has a lot of love to give and we hope the children will enjoy being a part of his care and rehabilitation.   More
importantly, we hope he will enjoy helping the children to gain confidence, and a great sense of accomplishment and
empowerment, and to give them strength to overcome their own illnesses.
Being an older horse it will not be as easy for him to recuperate.  He will need special attention and care.  With our extreme
drought conditions we are in need of all the financial assistance that we can get to provide adequate hay throughout the
winter.  If everyone reading this would pledge for even one square bale of hay it would make such a difference.  To find out
how you can help or arrange to donate a bale of hay, please email
shari@sacredheartrescue.com.   As a senior horse,
Cowboy will also require special formulated senior feed.  This can be pledged through our local Farmer's Co-op or our
Tractor Supply Store.
