Sonny
Sonny is a 4 year old gelding. He has a great personality, and is very attentive and eager
to please. He has great ground skills due to his excellent Parelli style natural horsemanship
training. Though he was not a rescue, he will make a great horse for the children because
he responds very well to commands and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body.

Dillan
Dillan was purchased from auction with a severe wound on his hind leg. He was battered
and bruised by other horses with kick and bite marks all over him. He is a five year old
registered Quarter Horse with excellent bloodlines. Due to his nature of being the
dominant “Alpha” horse, he is only appropriate for a more confident, experienced handler
but he will be useful for children needing more of a challenge once they gain the
confidence they need from handling a more responsive horse like Sonny.

Sadie is the true founding horse of Sacred Heart Rescue, Inc. She was a true rescue
that had been abandoned on 120 acres. She had foundered and was in a lot of pain.
She had great difficulty walking and was truly in need of immediate attention. With help
from our farrier, Anthony Ferrell, she has recovered wonderfully. Sadie has great ground
manners and she is currently able to ride and doing well. Sadie is available for adoption
to a loving home.

Cowboy
Cowboy is a senior horse in his mid twenties. He was very thin and malnourished when
he came to us and I was concerned that he may not make it through the winter. With
plenty of love, attention, and nourishment, he has made a remarkable recovery. He is a
retired trail horse and is very calm and gentle. Currently, he is the mount of choice for
leading children around in the arena. However, Cowboy is available for adoption to a
loving home.

foundered and was in great pain while walking when we took him in. He is very
overweight and currently on a very restricted diet while contained on a dry lot. Under the
care of our farrier, he is expected to make a good recovery like Sadie and be able to ride
once again very soon. He has shown much improvement already and we have begun
groundwork with him with some light lunging for exercise.

Kiley
Kiley, AKA “little filly”, was referred to us by the SPCA. She was on the brink of being
put down, but luckily we were able to save her. Kiley had acquired a bad wound on her
front leg when she escaped from her previous owner’s property, most likely from a
barbed wire fence. They had tried to fix her up with stitches, but due to the location of
the wound the stitches did not hold and the wound tore open. When we took her in she
still had stitches and staples in the wound that needed to be removed. The wound was
infected, swollen, and in very bad shape. With the help of Dr. Mark Burke of Smithville,
TN, the stitches and staples have been removed and a treatment plan prescribed. We
would like to thank Dr. Burke for his generous offer to examine her and advise us on her
recommended care. She has made a wonderful recovery and the wound has healed
much faster than we had predicted it would. She is still very small for a three year old
and has many scars from war wounds in her previous situation. She is just the
sweetest, most gentle little filly that I have ever been around. We look forward to
putting some weight on her so we can start seeing just how broke to ride she really is.
