Adopting from Sacred Heart Rescue
Although we would like to keep every horse that comes to us, restraints prevent
us from doing so. We must place our rehabilitated horses in loving homes, so we
can continue to save and rehabilitate other horses that badly need our help. If you
are interested in adopting a horse from Sacred Heart Rescue, please
CONTACT US.
We currently have two horses available for adoption, Sadie and Cowboy. Because we
believe that no horse should be alone, we would prefer to place Cowboy and Sadie
together. However, we will consider allowing an adoption of one by themselves if you
already have other horses. Also, we thoroughly evaluate all potential adopters to ensure
that our horses are placed in acceptable homes.
Sadie

Sadie has great ground manners and is well trained.  She is responsive and a joy to ride.
Cowboy

Cowboy is a senior horse in his mid
twenties.  He is a retired trail horse.
He is very calm and gentle, making
him a great horse for children.
Cowboy is also responsive, with
excellent manners and training.
Adopting from a third party individual or organization
There are many horses out there that need a home.  Unfortunately, it is impossible for us to take them all
in.  In an effort to help facilitate placement of other horses, we have provided the following list of
alternative horses that are available.
I have 2 horses that need a retirement home. The dark is a register quarter horse mare that we call Velvet. She is 22 and very gentle.
She has had a leg injury for the past year and has finally healed.   The last time we had her under saddle she didn’t ride very well.  She
just didn’t listen.  She didn’t buck or kick, just had her mind made up on what she wanted to do so she will need some work under
saddle.  She has great ground manners.  You can catch her anytime and do whatever you want to her.  The only thing she has a
problem with is loading.  She is a big mare, probably close to 16h.

The other is a retired thoroughbred gelding, Tazz, that used to be a pony horse. Tazz is approx 20 and just a big sweetheart. We have
ridden him before and he does great on trails and loves them.  He goes through water and doesn’t spook at anything.  We have not
messed with him in the past 6 months so he may need a tune-up.  He rides great, neck reins and stops on a dime.  The only bad habit
he has is girthing.  He tends to pull back if he is girthed too fast but if you take it slow he doesn’t seem to mind.

They both are free to only a good home and must go together! I will come inspect home before they are placed. Will also make
occasional visits to the home after they are placed. New home will have to sign a contract. Both are in good health and have just had
feet trimmed.

Angel is a 26 yr. old, dark bay Racking horse(no papers), 15.1-15.2 hh, rides English or Western, lunges and knows some voice and
leg commands. She has excellent ground manners also.  She has Cushing's Disease, that is doing well, however I will be moving to a
situation that will not allow me to keep her any longer.  Her condition is not bad, she just needs body clipped 2-3 times a year, during
the hot months, a dry lot with hay and low-starch feed twice a day (turned out for a few hours at a time on short grass), and clean water.
She is an awesome horse, still likes to ride, but will get sore in her feet if ridden for much longer then 2 hours (even if she is exercised
every day). I had purchased her from a lady (4 years ago), and the lady had her on an over-grown pasture, never had a farrier trim her
feet, or rode her (she was an eye-sore to her), or had a vet check her. Since I have had her she has done great, and recovered as
much as she could. She still grows long hair all year round. "Angel" is really good in a riding ring with children, has excellent ground
manners, stands for farrier, body clipping, the vet, grooming, and loads easy. She has an up to date neg. coggins and shots, and feet
are trimmed every 6 weeks. I only want her to go to a good home. Price asking is $0, to a good home only.
